Disheartening to hear... He only had one garbage bag with him, but filled it up and hauled it out. Lets not give this sport a bad name. Haul your stuff out

2/14/14 - JIG & LURE SALE
Buy 3 Jigs and or Lures the are same price and get the 4th one FREE

2/11/14 - NEGITIVE MEDIA REPORTING

BECAUSE OF THE MEDIA and PEOPLE who would rather report the negative, all people hear is Albert Lea Lake and Pickerel have died off… Does anyone report that Albert Lea is still booming with fishing?…NO!

FOUNTAIN LAKE and the fish are still healthy and being caught. The two dead lakes are a VERY SMALL portion of where the good fishing happens in this area all year. The percentage of people fishing on the two now dead lakes is probably less than 20% for the area. I hear this daily with phone calls, messages and people stopping in. This can be a bit frustrating, so please spread the word…

2/9/14 - FOUNTAIN LAKE
I'm still hearing very postive reports about the fish in Fountain staying healthy and still biting. I've seen some photos of some really nice walleye being caught out there as well. The Northerns population is huge from the reports I'm getting. Crappies and Sunnies are the most talked about. Have not heard much about perch being caught as of the last couple weeks

2/8/14 - STORE HOURS
We are cutting back on week time hours some. Monday thru Thursday we will be closing at 6pm. If you are cutting close to closing times, please call and let us know and we will stick around within a reasonable amount of time.

2/6/14 - LATEST INFO

Here's a summary of what we know with answers to commonly asked questions lately.

Fountain Lake is still proving to be biting. Crappies, Sunnies and Northern. A few perch reports, but not a lot. Mostly late afternoon/early evening bites. Waters and fish are still healthy and doing fine.

The Dam/Channel area: All fish are pretty much dead in there now, especially in the last two days. DNR turned down open fishing in the channel and Albert Lea Lake. It's my understanding that they are killing it all off. Why, I have no idea. Have not been given a true answer.

Pickerel: That's done. Have heard small amounts of smaller fish are still surviving as well as pike.

Not a positive post for the most part I wanted to share, but it is what it is, and at least Fountain is still going strong.

1/11/14 - OXYGEN LEVELS AREA LAKES
Done by Jared Stricker - Shell Rock River Watershed

Dissolved oxygen levels Friday 1/10/14

Albert Lea Lake

-3.54 mg/l by our aerator
-3.33 mg/l at Frank Hall Park
-7.85 mg/l in the channel by the china restaurant

Fountain Lake
-6.97 mg/l at the beach

Pickerel Lake
-5.15 mg/l by the island

From Lance Frank - The dissolved oxygen levels are a little low but the fish are not dying, the warm up over the next couple days should help by melting some of the snow cover off the ice adding fresh water to the lakes. Many thanks to The SRRWD ( Shell Rock River Watershed) for their hard work both monitoring and taking action when necessary.
